Job Description:
As a Chef Instructor at Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen, you will lead engaging, hands-on cooking classes while sharing your culinary expertise with students of all levels. This role requires a blend of industry experience, strong teaching skills, and a willingness to learn our operations through hands-on experience as a kitchen assistant for a series of classes.

Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Teaching:

Plan, prepare, and teach cooking classes, ensuring participants receive an engaging and educational experience.

Demonstrate proper cooking techniques, time management, and safety protocols in the kitchen.

Adapt teaching methods to accommodate varying skill levels, ensuring all participants feel supported and inspired.
Operations Familiarization:
-
Work as a kitchen assistant for an initial series of cooking classes to learn the operational flow, class structure, and kitchen management at Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen.

Assist with ingredient preparation, workstation setup, and supporting the lead instructor during classes.
Customer Engagement:
-
Foster a welcoming, positive, and inclusive environment for class participants.

Provide clear instructions, answer questions, and encourage active participation throughout the class.
Class Organization and Cleanup:
-
Oversee class preparation, including ingredient measurement, equipment setup, and workstation layout.

Assist with post-class clean-up, ensuring the kitchen is sanitized, organized, and ready for the next session.
Kitchen Maintenance and Safety:
-
Monitor the use of equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Follow all food safety guidelines and teach participants to maintain hygiene and safety during class.
Qualifications:
-
2+ years of culinary industry experience (restaurant, catering, culinary education, or similar).

Prior experience as a culinary instructor, mentor, or trainer is preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for teaching and inspiring others.

Ability to multitask and manage group dynamics in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment.

A willingness to work as a kitchen assistant to learn Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen’s operations.
-
Food safety certification (ServSafe) is a bonus.

Schedule:
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling based on class offerings. Evening and weekend availability is required.

As a Kitchen Assistant at Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our cooking classes. You will work closely with our Chef Instructors and participants to create an exceptional culinary experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Cooking Class Preparation Assistance: Assist in preparing ingredients, setting up workstations, and organizing kitchen tools and equipment before each class.

Class Support: During cooking classes, provide support to the Chef Instructor and participants by ensuring they have all the necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment. Help maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Customer Interaction: Interact with class participants, addressing their questions, providing guidance, and ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience.

Clean-Up: Assist with post-class clean-up, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing equipment.

Inventory Management: Keep track of kitchen inventory and assist with restocking supplies as needed.

Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe cooking environment.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a culinary or kitchen role is a plus.

Job Description:
As a Dishwasher at Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen, you will play a critical role in supporting the flow of cooking classes and ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organized, and fully functional.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing and Cleaning:

Set up and operate the three-compartment sink for manual washing.

Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine to clean dishes, utensils, and equipment efficiently.

Wash dishes and utensils on demand to support a smooth workflow during cooking classes.

Kitchen Maintenance:

Track and manage EMK kitchen equipment inventory to ensure all items are accounted for after each class.

Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing station and kitchen area.

Assist in properly storing clean dishes, tools, and equipment.
​
Support for Class Flow:

Work collaboratively with kitchen assistants, chefs, and other team members to ensure dishes and tools are cleaned promptly to avoid class interruptions.

Be flexible and supportive of other food businesses sharing the kitchen space.
​
Hygiene and Safety:

Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols, ensuring compliance with health codes.

Monitor the cleanliness of the dishwashing machine and sinks, reporting any maintenance needs to management.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a dishwasher in a professional kitchen is preferred but not required.

Ability to set up and operate a three-compartment sink and dishwashing machine.
